ASTILA MEANS FIRE IN CHEROKEE.
WHEN I SET OUT TO PHOTOGRAPH THE WILD MUSTANGS FOR MY SECOND SERIES I HAD ONLY TWO GOALS. FIRST, TO BE FULLY PRESENT AND IN THE MOMENT TO MYSELF, THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE ANIMALS I WAS PHOTOGRAPHING. AND SECONDLY, TO GET GREAT BLURR. TO NAIL A GOOD BLUR OF RUNNING WILD ANIMALS IN AN UNCONTROLLABLE AND CONSTANTLY CHANGING ENVIRONMENT IS PRETTY CHALLENGING TO SAY THE LEAST. I WAS THRILLED WITH THESE IMAGES. MY GOAL WAS TO CAPTURE MOVEMENT, COMPOSITION, AND SHAPE SO THAT THE WILD MUSTANGS TOOK ON MORE OF A 'FINE ART' FEEL - MORE CONCEPTUAL. THIS SHOT IS STRAIGHT FROM THE CAMERA, THERE IS NO POST RETOUCHING TO CREATE THESE LINES, MOVEMENT, OR TEXTURES.
I NAMED THREE OF MY BLURR IMAGES IN THIS SERIES EARTH, WIND AND FIRE. THE LIGHT, TONES, AND TEXTURES COMING FROM THE DARKER HORSES MANE REMINDS ME OF FLAMES FROM A FIRE.
