YAZHI MEANS ‘LITTLE ONE’ IN THE NAVAJO TRIBE.
THIS IMAGE IS THE MOST HONEST AND ENDURING PORTRAIT I’VE EVER TAKEN OF A WILD ANIMAL. THIS WAS UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL AND INTENTINONAL – WE SHARED A TRUE CONNECTION AND I’LL ALWAYS BE GREATFUL FOR THE BEATUFIUL MOMENT THIS LITTLE ONE ALLOWED ME TO EXPERIENCE. HIS SOUL IS MIRRORED THROUGH HIS GAZE INTO MY LENS AND IS GRACEFULY CAPTURED IN THIS PHOTO. HIS SUBDUED PLAYFULLNESS IS HIDDEN FOR A MOMENT FOR A GLANCE INTO A DEEPER THOUGHT OR NEED. BUT WHO AM I TO KNOW? PERHAPS HIS COURISOTY OF ME AND MY ODD LOOKING CAMERA? YOU CAN SEE THE INNOCENCE AND GENTELNESS OF THIS YOUNG HORSE. HE MELTS MY HEART.
IN A FLEETING MOMENT, IMMEDIATELY AFTER CAPTURING THIS IMAGE, HE RAN OFF TO THE PROTECTION AND GUIDANCE OF HIS MOTHER. AND WITH ASSURANCE THAT HE WAS SAFE I GOT TO ENJOY THE PLAYFUL, LIGHT HEARTED CHARACTER OF THIS ‘LITTLE ONE.’
