THE HOPI TRIBE WORD FOR ‘SPIRIT WARRIOR’ IS CHEVEYO. THIS BEATUIFUL HORSE’S WILDNESS AND RAWNESS SCREAMS ‘SPIRIT WARRIOR’ TO ME. I’M IN AWE OVER HER BEAUTY AND HER STRONG PERSISTENT GAZE UPON ME WHEN I PHOTOGRAPHED HER. I REMEMBER WHEN I APPROACHED THE SMALL HERD I WAS CONCERNED THAT I WOULD SCARE THEM OFF. THE FIRST 15 OR SO MINUTES THE ENTIRE HEARD WITH TWO FOALS WATCHED ME WITH EVERY BIT OF PROTECTIVE AND CATIOUS CONCERN AND INTEREST ONE WOULD EXPECT. THE GLANCE HERE IN THIS IMAGE IS DURING THIS PERIOD WHEN THE HERD WAS ON GUARD AND ALERT AND STILL TRYING TO DECIDE IF THEY WERE GOING TO ACCEPT ME HANGING AROUND OR TAKE OFF. I’M GLAD THEY DECIDED TO STAY. AND I’M GLAD I GOT TO EXPERIENCE CHEVEYO LIKE THIS~
